DthtIOR L'OR DE J'ADORE BY JEAN-MICHEL OTHONIEL
Description
Jean-Michel Othoniel brings you "L'Or de J'adore", a piece that orchestrates a relationship between the artist and the iconic fragrance. Inspired by the amphora's glass curves, Othoniel has imagined a flower-like case to house the first J'adore fragrance by Francis Kurkdjian.
Imbued with all the magic of the epic sculptures by Jean-Michel Othoniel, this bronze rose is a brilliant incarnation of Francis Kurkdjian's composition; the beaded petals form a hyperbolic flower. Made using the traditional jewelry-making technique of lost-wax casting, it is then hand-polished before being dipped in liquid gold.
Balanced on top, almost weightless upon this blooming flower, is the J'adore l'Or bottle with its figure 8 silhouette: the artist adorned its lid with a cloak of liquid gold that wraps itself around the glass pearl and unfurls around the bottle's crystal curves.
"L'Or de J'adore" by Jean-Michel Othoniel is produced in a limited series of 100 numbered pieces, available in select boutiques.
Perfumer's Word
"For this creation, I carefully observed the composition and architecture of a rose, a flower I particularly adore. Then I wound the beads around the bottle in a dance of vital energy. Finally, I imagined the gold coming to adorn the amphora like a precious cloth while resting on the glass pearl like a delicate petal."

Know How
It all began with the contemplation of a "real" rose that the artist drew in watercolor: this drawing became an initial model in 3 dimensions. This model was then entrusted to casters who use the traditional lost-wax technique. An incredible show of precision, the bronze beads are hand-polished one by one before being plunged into a gold bath.
Delicately placed on this extraordinary flower, the crystal amphora designed by Jean-Michel Othoniel displays a figure 8 silhouette with an ethereal equilibrium, highlighting the gentle harmony of the New Look line created by Christian. The gold of the lid wraps itself around the glass pearl, balanced as if weightless, then unfurls around the bottle's crystal curves. Surprisingly, the glass bottom is full and round, making it impossible for the bottle to remain balanced without the flower that encases it.
In short, the incarnation of perfect symbiosis between a precious amphora, sealed by the "dames d’atelier" using the art of "baudruchage", and its sculpted case.
J’ADORE X JEAN-MICHEL OTHONIEL
L'Or de J'adore (2023) by Jean-Michel Othoniel creates a new dialogue between the artist and the instantly iconic women's perfume. Jean-Michel Othoniel imagined a flower-like case to house the trail of J'a l'Or, Francis Kurkdjian's first composition for the House.
